Manufactured Housing’s Professional Crucifixion

March 30th, 2018 No comments

Let’s be crystal clear at the outset.

Only One can claim to have been betrayed by a close comrade, arrested, found guilty at three separate rigged trials, beaten, brutally whipped/scourged, mocked, marched off on public streets, crucified, died, and was buried in a borrowed grave for our sins on a Friday that’s paradoxically called Good.

Only One can claim to have undergone all of that, and then rise from the dead. And if experts who’ve long studied the Shroud of Turin and the Sudarium of Oviedo are correct, that One left strong evidence that’s inspired billions of souls throughout the centuries ever since.

Respectful of our weak yet free will that He died for, Jesus of Nazareth beckons us to look anew, and apply what happened almost 2000 years ago to our own time, and our own circumstances.

Let’s do so, and apply that Way to our often troubled profession.

Manufactured Housing’s Crucifixion

Take up your cross, and follow Me,” Jesus said. Surely at first blush, those words ranks as the worst sounding invitation of all time.

So why did so many in that era take those striking words literally?  When thousands were likewise sentenced to their own cruel deaths by Roman authorities, and by the politicos and hired thugs of their time?

The fact that hundreds of Hebrew Scriptural references seem to fit Jesus’ life so well, isn’t enough for many among the masses. That’s no slam, it’s simple reality. Perhaps understandably so, because like Peter, even Jesus’ followers routinely deny Him, and turn away…

…only to return more humbly again.

After all, we are sinners.  It’s the one thing that Saul – who originally persecuted believers, and who became the Paul that preached what he had first disdained – said we have in common.

Through the lens of Good Friday, let’s look at Manufactured Housing’s own crucifixion.

Day by day, our industry is mocked in the media. Manufactured homes are a political football that’s kicked and passed around, fumbled, sold out for thirty pieces of silver, and often frustrated by forces seemingly larger than the 22 million now being served.

No wonder it’s ignored by so many, when it commonly goes under false names like “trailer house,” or dated terms like “mobile home,” even though no new mobile homes have been shipped in the U.S. since the first manufactured homes were built on June 15, 1976.

At Christmas, believers heard and read that Jesus was born in a stable, exiled outside of town. It was the social outcasts of that era – the shepherds – who heard the herald angels sing; not the rich, famous, or powerful.

While some brave souls with millions in net worth own manufactured homes, many more shun them, just because of the unfair rep.

And that’s just fine for scores of locals and so called leaders scattered across our land.  Is it better to have half a million homeless? Is it better to have tens of millions locked in poverty? Why not consider the obvious solution? The one hiding in plain sight?

Better – some wrongly believe – to waste billions a year on programs for rentals that can never solve the growing American housing crisis…

…or so the deeds of the short sighted, ignorant, lazy, greedy or corrupt would have millions think.  Never doubt that forces favoring and profiting from subsidized rental housing resists the obvious solution of manufactured homes.

Last week, HUD Secretary Ben Carson – world renowned for his achievements in medicine – was mocked by some in politics and the media too.

Like the president, vice president, cabinet, administration and the American people they serve, they too are all being sold out at every opportunity.  Sometimes that betrayal is by those who are supposedly in their own party, and among their supporters.

No wonder so many of us won’t take the label of Democrat or Republican. Like Judas Iscariot, the news often gives more attention to the behavior of the wicked, than to the behavior of the those trying to do good.  Spotlight some embarrassing incident, no matter how long ago, or regardless of how irrelevant to the important job at hand.

Secretary Carson, teed up by a question from Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), talked about how “Amazing” today’s manufactured homes are.

Carson called many of the regulations of manufactured homes “ridiculous.”  You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to see the truth that what you build indoors in a production center will cost you less than the same thing built outdoors on scattered locations. Save time, buy materials in bulk, cut wasted and stolen items down, save labor, and you’ll save money.

That’s why Secretary Carson could honestly say that manufactured homes often look like and rival conventional housing, and cost less. Per the U.S. Census Bureau, they are about half the cost per square foot as site building.

There’s an important part of the solution to the affordable housing crisis, as Carson himself observed.

So why aren’t manufactured homes embraced?

One might as well ask, why don’t all embrace the cross of Christ?

Manufactured Housing’s Judas

We will link up below the betrayal of manufactured homes by people, who like Judas, sold the industry out so that they could play the corrupt game in the temple that the money changers did in Jesus’ time.

But those corrupt industry folks, who are building “a moat” to enrich the few to the harm to the many, have been killing off competitors by an abuse of economic and political power.  Like Pilate or his brutal soldiers, they have various kinds of blood on their hands.

Some historians claim Pilate converted later in his life. Some say, some of Pilate’s soldiers and executioners did too. If it’s possible then, it is possible now too.

It took the most grueling and unjust death of all time to bring about the conversion of so many souls over the ages. It took Dieced – the killing of the God who become Man – to win victory over Satan. That’s what made this Friday, Good.

We can’t be surprised if we too have a unique cross to take up too.

On the other side of the darkness of Good Friday, comes the bright sunrise of Easter Sunday.

Manufactured housing has been crucified for years.  It was buried in certain ways by some, including those who falsely claim to be the industry’s allies. Pilate and the authorities spread lies to cover their tracks after they killed the Christ, too.

Might our misunderstood and maligned profession – given Secretary Carson’s and the Trump Administration’s leadership, and enough people of good will across the left-right political divide – support as needed our industry’s much needed rebirth?

Will the needs of the many outweigh in time the blindness and greed of the few?

If enough do the politically incorrect in our time, then Senator Tillis’ and Dr. Carson’s insights will prove to be wise. In turn, millions more will be served, and can lead a better life.

But never forget, it was corrupt men who sold out Jesus. It was those guilty of sinful avarice, the ignorant, the lazy, the paid assassins, that killed the Savior. And the crowd watched. Some stunningly cheered, “Crucify him!” ## (Masthead op-ed, news, analysis, and commentary.)

Howard Walker, ELS Vice Chair, MHI Executive Committee, and Multi-Billion Dollar Industry Questions

July 31st, 2017 No comments

Subsidized housing is a way of tipping the scales against the free-market solution offered by HUD Code manufactured homes.

Not enforcing enhanced preemption established by law under the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000 (MHIA 2000) is clear evidence of HUD failing to do its lawful duty. It’s one of several clear reasons to immediately replace Pam Danner, JD, as head of the HUD Code manufactured housing program.

This image above appeared on the business website shown, and was modified to fit this page. When HUD’s own data proves that manufactured homes have their best quality ever, why is Danner pushing for more and costlier regulations? Click above for more details.

Any industry professional, company, or association that fails to support:

•      a change away from Pam Danner as head of the HUD Code manufactured housing program, or

•     who don’t want to investigate why Lois Starkey separated from the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI), and now is at HUD’s MH Program office,

is logically either:

•     apathetic,

•     misinformed,

•     naïve,

Click the collage graphic above to see Doug Gorman’s reasons for saying that Pam Danner, a personal friend of his, ought to be moved out of her current role at HUD.

•     or is hiding something.

The topic for today was specifically requested by an active and ranking MHI member.  That person and others in or out of that group’s body have requested something similar. A number of the questions/allegations/points of concern listed were made by MHI members.

Questioning the organization and its impact on the industry – for good or ill – should not be construed as attacking individual member companies, or people.

Before diving into questions/concerns to ask yourself about MHI, let’s state a pair of fair and balanced facts.

A)      The vast majority of the people and operations involved in MHI are good folks, fine operations.

B) Industry gatherings, meetings and events are routinely pleasant, and offer various networking benefits.

In the real world, things are rarely all darkness or light. Thus, the biblical admonition to separate ‘wheat from chaff.’

Discerning professionals, researchers, media, and investors must separate those A-B positive truths, from the questions below.

Note too that it’s possible to accomplish the A-B value noted above within MHI, or outside of it.

Discernment – Ask Yourself These Questions About Allegations and Concerns Regarding MHI

In no particular order of importance:

1) Why hasn’t MHI informed its members on its position about Pam Danner, JD, and what’s behind the separation of Lois Starkey and Ton Heinemann?

2) Isn’t it obvious that if MHI wanted to see Danner removed, they would have already publicly come out and said so?

3) Why does MHI not defend the industry against false claims made by the mainstream media, or by activist anti-MH business groups?

4) Why didn’t Warren Buffett call then President Barack Obama, and ask him to have Richard Cordray support the changes sought in Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing? Wouldn’t that have saved MHI and the industry millions of dollars and untold hours of failed lobbying efforts?

Several media outlets picked up on the story first broken on MHProNews about the dismissal of Vice Presidents Lois Starkey Tom Heinemann Manufactured Housing Institute MHI Dismissed

5) Why did key MHI member/companies de facto derail the Duty to Serve (DTS) process with FHFA and the GSEs, while the association claimed to be working for its robust enactment?

6) Why didn’t MHI ask FHFA or the GSEs to release the minutes of private meetings? What are they hiding?

7) Why did MHI first support the business and job killing positions it initially took on DOE regulations? Why did it only change positions after months of third party pressure on the DOE proposal they supported?

8) Why has MHI allegedly misinformed its own members on a variety of issues?

9) Why won’t MHI release its own bylaws to its own members, or prospective members? Where’s the logic? What are they hiding?

10) Sam Zell is one of many who has noted that big companies are better able to sustain heavy regulations than smaller firms. Then isn’t it reasonable to presume that if MHI fails to get regulatory relief – for whatever reasons – that the end result is more smaller companies will be “consolidated” into larger ones?

11) Why has MHI not warned its members about the possible protests by anti-industry activist groups – that may disrupt the MHI annual meeting?

12) Is your company feeding a hand that undermines your firm’s and the public’s best interests?

We Provide, You Decide.” © ##

Follow the Money.” – says MHI-award winner, Marty Lavin, JD.

Pay more attention to what people do than what they say.” – Marty Lavin suggests, after many successful years in the retail, community, finance, plus as an expert witness in the Manufactured Housing Industry.

NOTE: The new issue articles are linked below, after this commentary. Photo CAPTION. Marty Lavin’s 3 level, 70′ Italian cruiser.

We strive to watch the money, to see what moves money, and why. We also watch what people write and say. We save their statements. That means, we can later check back, and see what someone or some group did and are doing.

That’s how accountability happens.

Those statements – past and present – money flow, and facts are amazingly revealing in our industry, nation, world. They impact – for good or ill – tens of millions of lives.

This week, guest writer Julia Granowicz quoted Daniel Patrick Monaghan, “You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.”

Millennial Granowicz has also published one on another hot-button, controversial topic. The minimum wage and manufactured housing, is linked here.

Breaking Bread

We spotlighted ELS this past Friday. In that Daily Business News market report we mentioned a private dinner at the invitation of ELS’ Howard Walker (a nice dinner, we two).

We ought to mention that 21st Mortgage President and MHI Chairman, Tim Williams and Clayton’s Tom Hodges – in the company of 3 others from Berkshire Hathaway units – likewise invited me to a private dinner.  A good meal, nice time, with robust discussions.

None of those, IMHO, will deny those private meetings took place, because they are demonstrably true.

The significance of those may be revealed, at the proper time.

“Breaking Bread” is an expression that means, sharing a good meal. Photo credit, Pixabay.

Warren Buffett seems pretty left-wing in his politics, see this link here.

Sam Zell, seems pretty right wing, see that story, linked here.

We promised some who wrote in after the article was published above, this is the promise being kept. To see the original report, click here or the image above.

Principles Matter – Words, Allegations

In the wake of our MHI Fly-in report, we have two sources that tell us that “more than 30,” came to the MHI DC event. That word came after the article linked here, so we will cross link this post with that report.

The facts matter. We want to be accurate. If new facts emerge on a subject, we have for years brought them to our readers’ attention.

See an error, or what you think might be one?

Just show us the article, and the new information, or contrary claim/information.

In the case of the fly-in, one post-publishing source said, “about 40,” were there, and that party found the meeting useful.

FYI, the first Daily Business News report – and the updates, properly understood – may actually confirm each other. If less than 30 came, but the later sources are counting MHI staffers, that about 30 combined with staffers and workers is roughly equal to that ‘about forty’ total.

MHI has declined comment. Why?

Pay More Attention to What People Do Than What They Say…

One source suggested that a possible reason so many didn’t come is the extended legislative sessions in several states.  Worth considering.

But that only makes the point that a significant numbers who come are state execs, which is routinely true. For only about 3 dozen total to be at a national event that is supposed to advance MHI’s agenda…isn’t that embarrassing?

Isn’t it also a vote of little confidence by their own members?

Warren Buffett, left. President Barack Obama, right. Credit, Wikipedia.

We must point back to what another successful industry pro said. While Barack Obama was President “one call from Omaha” could have fixed Dodd-Frank for manufactured housing.

Keep in mind two things.

1) Prior reports on the Daily Business News from MHI insiders that consumer groups and MHI could have gotten the MLO ruled passed by agreement, if only 21st/VMF and those impacted would have given up their points and fees hike.

2) That Richard Cordray himself said in this video, that there never was much high cost lending in manufactured housing.

So why has it taken MHI so many years to try to get the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act done?

This collage above was created from statements made by Richard Cordray in a video that is posted on this page, and was made available to MHI at the time. MHI declined to use it. Why? Some suggest ego or arrogance. If so, isn’t that troubling that MHI would pass on a tool to advance their agenda for some petty reason? Others suggest they didn’t see the value. Pardon me? Since this was produced, MHI’s SVP Lesli Gooch, has made a point of using videos, but none are as potent as this one. Some say, it is precisely because MHProNews made it, and MHI wants to undermine our pro-industry work. If that’s true, what does that say about MHI? Allegations, allegations, and all of the possible options are troubling, aren’t they? Keep in mind, in Chicago before the election, MHI had not one, but two pro-Clinton guest speakers. Why? Wasn’t Clinton pro-Dodd-Frank? Isn’t Warren Buffett pro-Clinton too? Do you see the obvious disconnects between what is being said, and realities like those noted above? Pay more attention to what people do – and ask, does MHI really care if they modify Dodd-Frank, or not?  See article, linked here.

Why did MHI never use this video, our still quotes graphic and these powerful admissions by Cordray to move their own stated agenda??

This is simple logic.

-They couldn’t get it done.

-They may have had the ability to get Preserving Access done, but had the wrong strategy or execution.

-They didn’t mind if it got done, or not. Why? Could it be that either way, a few companies benefited?

Follow the money.

Pay more attention to what people do than what they say.

One call from Omaha to then President Barack Obama could have fixed what 5 years and some $15 million in efforts by MHI did not.

Sam Zell and Jenny Hodge, Nathan Smith – will share that he another time – have all directly or indirectly pointed out what is obviously true.

Heavy regulations harm smaller producers more than big ones.

Heavy regulations harm smaller banks – or any other kind of business – than big ones.

So when MHI ‘tries but fails’ – time and again – who still wins?

Hint. It’s not the little guys, it’s not the independents, is it?

Have a small number of larger companies figured out a clever way to slowly create ever-bigger monopolies – indirectly, by allowing (or encouraging) regulations – that only a few benefit from?

The answer to that impacts literally everyone.

Knowledge is potential power!

Against that backdrop, and with no further adieu, here are the featured articles and reports for July.

Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., King David and Donald Trump

July 1st, 2017 No comments

I’ve worked with, and known thousands of Democrats, including people I’ve been close to for many years. The same could be said of Republicans, or Libertarians, etc. I’m neither, we’re independents.

We respect the right of people to affiliate and vote as their hopefully well-informed conscience dictates.

It may seem odd to place these four American and one Jewish leader in the same headline. They’re quite different, but there are a few similarities that we can learn from.

Everyone has good and bad qualities. One blast from the past is his “Silent Majority” phrase.

History tells us that President Richard M. Nixon’s crime wasn’t the Watergate break-in. His mistake in that sad affair was the post-incident coverup. There certainly was plenty to question in President Nixon’s foreign and domestic policies.

But the proximate cause for bringing Nixon down was a cover-up.

Ronald Reagan was an actor-turned-politician. He was pro-abortion before he become pro-life. He became a conservative and evangelical Christian icon, yet he was divorced and remarried.

He’s revered for addressing economic and foreign policy woes, plus bringing down the Iron Curtain.

But his administration was also embroiled in the Iran-Contra scheme. Compared to the nation he inherited from POTUS Jimmy Carter, he arguably left America and the world much better off.  The economy and jobs grew.  The world enjoyed a period of less global tension.

Dr. King

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a ‘man of the cloth,’ a professional preacher. He was investigated by the FBI for allegedly getting support from Moscow (yes, another Russian conspiracy story). King was accused – among other things – of being a philanderer, a womanizer.

Yet he reportedly loved his wife and family. King was no Democrat, he was a Republican. A social justice warrior, he used peaceful organizing when some of his peers wanted to use violence.

King David

Israel has many heroic figures, past and present. David is one revered by billions over the ages who’ve learned parts of his story, and were influenced by his words, life and deeds.

Like Dr. King, David was accused of philandering. Like Nixon, he attempted a cover-up. The Scriptures say he took another man’s wife, fathered a child by her, arranged to have Bathsheba’s husband killed in battle to hide the truth.

Yet, David is revered…not for human weaknesses and immoral acts, but rather for the good that he did.

President of the United States (POTUS), Donald J. Trump

Before diving into our current Commander in Chief, let’s review.

Not one of the figures above was perfect. Each did some things that were tragic. While one can argue the finer points:

  • Nixon was known for opening up China to the U.S. (note – I thought for decades and still now believe that was a huge mistake, but millions think it was his finest accomplishment).
  • Reagan took the nation out of economic doldrums, and is one of the figures lauded for winning the Cold War against the then Soviet Union (Russia, plus – under Communism).
  • Dr. King helped millions of ‘people of color’ gain an increased measure of respect and enhanced equality. He benefited primarily blacks, but others also benefited. Indeed, arguably the nation as a whole was furthered by his work. Nevertheless, King had his human weaknesses, missteps and frailties.
  • David is a heroic figure who illicitly fathered another legend. Out of evil, God can do good. One ought not do evil, but God’s wisdom and wonder includes the ability to bring triumph out of personal tragedy.

Now, we turn to Donald Trump as president.

Be you a supporter, detractor or in between, he’s a human, with great skills and weaknesses too.  We’ve seen in the examples above that you don’t have to be perfect to accomplish

Credit, The Conservative Tree House.

Mr. Trump’s informed opponents – most of POTUS Trump’s detractors are ill advised followers – know what’s really going. Make no mistake, it has never been about Russia or anything other than fear that Trump will succeed in his stated agenda.

  • It’s fear of the president successfully creating millions of good, higher paying jobs.
  • It’s fear that he will drain the swamp and crony capitalism.
  • It’s fear that he will seek to stop Islamic radicals from harming our nation (not an easy one, this and other points are another subject for another time)
  • It’s fear that POTUS Trump will take on and break up some monopolies.

It’s fear he will modify NAFTA, reduce trade imbalances, make America great on the world stage again, modify taxes and regulation, fox ObamaCare and all of the things that caused tens of millions to vote for him, or to vote against his opponents.

If POTUS Trump does so, he’ll indeed be inspiring America to become a much greater, richer, and fairer nation than before he took office.

That’s what the Democratic power brokers and leaders fear.  It’s what some elitist Republicans fear too.

Everything else is smoke and mirrors being blown, because even his enemies are having to admit, there’s no evidence of wrongdoing.

Those lies, half-truths, and distortions are misguided efforts to unseat (or worse) a duly elected President.  Let people disagree on policy, but it’s unAmerican what much of his opposition is doing.

Tens of millions on either side of the sad divide…they’re being used like pieces on a chess board.  Who  may win or lose dependes on the failure or success of the president, his team and if enough Americans keep up their support.

Mandamus! Magnificent May in MHVille, 2017

May 21st, 2017 No comments

Example 1, of many possible examples.

Mandamus –

Wikipedia › wiki › Mandamus

Mandamus (“We command”) is a judicial remedy in the form of an order from a superior court, to any government subordinate court, corporation, or public authority—to do (or forbear from doing) some specific act which that body is obliged under law to do (or refrain from doing)—and which is in the nature of public duty…”

Collage credit,

The attorneys will sort out the details. But think about HUD, enhanced preemption, local zoning, and a host of other possible applications to this under-utilized legal remedy.

We’ve been part of a quiet effort at setting the stage for what we will briefly pencil out.

Already underway, unveiling soon and through the end of this year – and likely well beyond – we see opportunities for manufactured housing to advance in many profitable ways.

Among them are proper strategic and tactical uses of legal remedies.  Some of what has been discussed with the legal minds already include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Multi-Billion Class Action.
  • Bad faith.
  • Tortious interference in a business relationship.
  • FOIA.
  • Mandamus.
  • False advertising.
  • Failure to perform.
  • Slander/defamation/liable.
  • RICO.
  • Constitutional arguments.

The attorneys will sort out the details. Some of the above could be done with contingency attorneys. Other will require a more traditional funding of the attorney/client relationship.

Some efforts can be enhanced in strategic legal alliances with other similarly-impacted and injured people, groups and organizations.

Know it or not — you, many of our clients, readers, we, and others in manufactured housing are being harmed day-by-day.  It’s time to end that, isn’t it? To unshackle the potential of your business and our industry?

Disclosure. We’re not attorneys, and thus the legal remedies outlined here are as seen through the lens of a lay person. But my humble take on the early discussions with the “suits” – past and present – leads me to think that ground-breaking changes are possible.

Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.” – Napoleon Hill.

Collage credit,

Those profitable changes will come through a combination of:

·        Education. Internal (industry professionals) and external (to public officials, media and the public at large.

·        Lobbying/Engagement (advocacy, education)

·        Marketing

·        Pro-Industry Trade Media (,

·        Mainstream Media Engagement.

·        Trade media and services expansion.

·        Legal action.

We will be looking for parties who are already in – or are poised to enter – manufactured housing. Forward thinkers, ready to step out and participate at various levels in these efforts.

We will also be looking for allies – impacted parties ready to participate, tired of the status quo and willing to do more than complain about it.

Picking the right test cases and parties to be involved will be important.

This is America. Land of the Free. Home of the Brave.

To the Victors Go the Reward$. To the losers goes the dregs.

My thanks to all who visit and support, starting with my amazing family, our fine team, and all those visible and invisible who make this and our sister platform possible.

Thanks too for our readers – for the words of encouragement, tips and insights – and for letting me share the extended teaser above.

Now – as promised Friday – with no further adieu, please find the line-up for the Featured Articles for Magnificent May below. ##

Merchants and Crusaders

May 11th, 2017 No comments

One of the industry’s well-known personalities told me the following. “Tony, you’re a crusader. I’m the merchant, the one who sat at the side of the road during the Crusades, doing business with everyone that would go by.”

It was – and is – an interesting point.

Since stating the obvious can bring clarity, so consider the following.

Graphic credit,

The Manufactured Housing and Modular Home Industry needs both Merchants and Crusaders.

  • If you loved, hated, or were non-plussed by what we do as the industry’s runaway leading trade publisher, the merchants would still have tons of reasons to be visible on and support MHProNews, and/or on
  • If you’re already a Crusader and love what we do, then you absolutely need to be engaged with us at every level – reading, sharing and support.

The Original Crusaders in History

Without the crusaders in the Middle Ages, Europe would have been overrun by that era’s sword-wielding jihadis.  Had those invaders beaten the crusaders, the world would have become a radically different place than we know today.

The accounts tell us that the crusaders were far from perfect.

But their efforts saved Christendom. Christian Europe in turn helped shape a culture that – while also not perfect – was and is more inclusive than those Islamic medieval forces, and more so than almost any other you’d care to describe.

Example: Ask a Jew, would you rather live in:

  • Soviet Russia?
  • Nazi Germany?
  • A radical Islamic state?
  • Or in a truly Christian society, which respects your right to stay a Jew?

Many of the State of Israel’s best friends are evangelical Christians. But I digressed.

Crusaders and Merchants in Manufactured Housing

The point is the world needs Crusaders! Those who will defend or attack as needed for the right cause.

And the world needs the merchants! Be they more-or-less political or activist types, because the business of America is business.

Healthy measures of manufactured housing crusaders and merchants are desirable. Without both, the industry will never achieve its potential.

Which brings us to the roll-out of version 3.0

MHProNews Version 3.1…coming soon!

Pardon what may sound like pride, but facts are facts.

MHProNews is already the most bodacious, biggest, baddest, broadest and the best.

Who says?  You and thousands of others by being here. You and your peers vote with your browsers and handheld devices.  Even while we’ve been unavoidably idled/down for the new site switch over these last few days – which took longer than hoped – readers like you came by the thousands to MHProNews every-day.

  • tackling the topics others don’t,
  • offering a variety of viewpoints (we’ve had writers critique and criticize us, on our pages),
  • taking a stand on what ought to be right and true,
  • willing to admit errors,

we have built a broad audience based upon trust and engagement. It’s also where those outside of our industry – investors, public officials, media, researchers – routinely come for insights and information.

Third-party analytics tell us that we get over 200% more page views than others in media, almost 3x the click-throughs on our emails, and more than 150% more opens than others in the news media.

Screen capture of version 2.0 of, aka Good bye, old friend…you’ve served the industry well. Hello version 3.0, we look forward to what’s in store.

Those third-party metrics are all votes of confidence.

Controversy brings more eyeballs, so long as it isn’t controversy for its own sake.

So, merchants, the controversy helps you.  Crusaders – you know that the controversies are the only way the dirt pile swept under the rug will ever hope to get cleaned up.

Its axiomatic. The same old-same old will not produce a new result. To reach half-a-million or more shipments a year, we need merchants and crusaders leading the charge for profitable, value-oriented change.

We know the template. We as an industry should keep serving the entry market well, but the key to big growth is to attract more customers who could buy site built housing, because that’s the majority of the housing market today.

The truth be told, I’m both crusader and merchant. You might be too…

Merchants, and Crusaders!  Unite!

The best is yet to come on the new  Please scroll all the way to the bottom of the home page to see all of the new features.

We will be rolling out new features on the blogs and elsewhere in the days ahead.  We hope those upgrades and improvements will continue right up to the point of my death, and for decades beyond.

Crusaders! Merchants! Tallyho! ##

Happy Birthday, First Lady Melania Trump!

April 26th, 2017 No comments

Today will be short and sweet, in every sense.  When the president’s detractors are hurling all sorts of slurs at him, please step back and look at his family.

Our new First Lady, Melania Trump:

  • Foreign born,
  • Successful professional in her own right,
  • Classy,
  • By all accounts, a good mother to their son Barron.

Ivanka Trump is married to Jared Kushner, both of whom are close presidential advisers, as well as family members.

So where does all those crazy claims by the president’s opponents about his being:

  • anti-immigrant (look at his wife),
  • anti-woman (look at his wife and daughter),
  • anti-Semitic, (Look at his daughter, son-in-law, and their children),

come from?

The president upset the powerful elites in both the GOP and the Democratic parties.  Of course, there will be ongoing efforts from all sides to undermine him and his America First, Hire American, agenda.  All told, his first 100 days have already seen real progress.

Make no mistake about it. The First Lady, President Donald Trump, Ivanka and the entire Trump family must have thick skins.  They are making many sacrifices to try to right the ship of state from cronyism by both major parties.

I gladly pulled the lever for Donald Trump, and we’ve publicly supported him for over a year.  As a skeptical, black pastor and Democrat told us recently, “He deserves the benefit of the doubt. Let’s see what the man can do for the country.”

First Lady, thank you for your sacrifice and that of your family.  The Trumps already had a celebrity life.  Perhaps, after four – or hopefully -eight years, others will see the meaning of such service, and dive into the fray.

Happy Birthday.  We both signed your online card too, thanks for that opportunity.

Until next time, MHPros, stay engaged! The President and his team can’t do this alone.  We, must be all play some part for the solution for his pro-growth, pro-America agenda to succeed. ##
